Right now, I'm enjoying the movies of Hayao Miyazaki and Wes Anderson (My Neighbor Tortoro and Rushmore are two of my favorites) and the music of the Kinks, The Clash, Miles Davis, and Fiona Apple. My husband and I own 3 cats, and we love watching basketball games together. Outside of ELAC, I enjoy writing, spending time with friends and family, and being in nature as much as possible. One of my goals is to support the growth and development of my students as intellectuals, storytellers, and humanitarians. And while many of these are essays and research papers, they can be powerful and transformational stories nonetheless. Now that I am a professor at ELAC, I continue to read stories, thousands of them, written by the students in my classes. In 2010, I began my dream job as a full-time English professor at East Los Angeles College. I began teaching at Cal State Fullerton in 2004, and I also taught courses at Santa Ana College, Santiago Canyon College, and Cal State LA. After graduating from Chapman, I continued with my education by attending California State University, Fullerton, where I obtained a Master of Arts in English and Comparative Literature with an emphasis is 20th Century Latin American and Chicano Literature. I received my Bachelor’s Degree in Spanish literature with a minor in English in 2000. I also spent time traveling and studying literature in the British Isles. In the Spring of 1999, I lived and studied in Granada, Spain. I then transferred to Chapman University.
